our story
Your True Shade proudly boasts organic makeup. YTS isn’t just our name. It’s our commitment to producing the purest and healthiest skin care and natural makeup suitable for the diversity and beauty of women of color all across the globe. This was conceptualized by our CEO Dianne Plummer out of a personal need. While studying Sustainable Energy in Sweden and Finland, she was unable to find makeup as a black woman that not only matched her skin tone, but also offered the ideal coverage without irritating her sensitive skin and eczema. She then decided to use her background in Chemical Engineering (BEng) to create her own make up and that is how “Your True Shade” was born – in her student apartment.
YTS is a collection of high-quality products that use natural minerals and local ingredients to create a range of skincare, makeup and haircare for women of colour. Our brand statement is “Enhancing beauty without compromising health” and our focus is offering clients the ability to enhance their true beauty without compromising health. As a result, our makeup, skincare and hair care lines use curated natural ingredients that help to foster a holistic approach to beauty.
